are written in all panels, and publisher’s seal
(Yamaguchi-ya Tobeui 1780-1860 in Bakuro-cho) is written in all panels.
KUNITERU (1808-1876), ukiyoe artist, studied first under Kunisada ,
then under Toyokuni, began using name Kuniteru from about 1844.
First names Utagawa(Yamashita), Hiikosaburo, Jin-emon, others.
SHOULD NOT BE CONFUSED WITH KUNITERU
WHO WORKED IN MID-19TH CENTURY, AND
ANOTHER KUNITERU WHO WORKED DURING MEIJI.
